KUALA LURAH

Kuala Lurah is a small village in the Brunei-Muara District of Brunei Darussalam where the border of Brunei meets the border of Limbang in Sarawak, Malaysia. The border checkpoint is located here. The place where people from Limbang and Brunei Darussalam sit together and have a fun with friends and family. Some makes this place as a place to take a little rest before go to Limbang Town and Brunei Darussalam.

LIMBANG MUSEUM

The small but informative Limbang Regional Museum is upstairs in another of Charles Brooke’s forts, built in 1897. The collection is well presented and features exhibits on archaeology, culture and crafts of the region. To get here, follow the riverbank upstream (south) past the police station and look for the replica totem pole.

LIMBANG PLAZA

Limbang Plaza is the first shopping centre built in Limbang. The Plaza has start its operation since 1998. The building has four (4) shopping floors. There are 123 units of shoplots. There are more than 100 owners because some own two units. This is a Strata Title Property. The building strata title has been issused.

The building consist of two (2) blocks. One Block house the hotel, the Purnama Hotel and the other is the Office Block.
There is also a multi-storey car parks connected to the main building through a bridge.

LIMBANG AIRPORT

The old Limbang STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) airfield was built in 1963 by The British Army for use during the confrontation between Malaysia and Indonesia. Situated beside Mas Hill (Bukit Mas), about 3 miles from the town of Limbang. The old airfield did not meet the safety requirements of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). Furthermore, the old airfield was surrounded by mountains and the Approach Path was covered by tall vegetation such as trees, combined with the relatively high ground. This makes it particularly hazardous and difficult for civilian aircraft to operate safely into and out of the airfield.
In 1978, a consultant firm was appointed to select a new site for a completely new airport and thus proceeded with the Master Plan Study regarding the layout of the new airport. The development plan of the new airport back then is to accommodate the Fokker F27 turboprop aircraft operation in the beginning and thereafter Boeing 737-200 jet aircraft operation.
After lengthy delays, the new Limbang Airport project started in the year 2000 and was completed in only four years. The airport was officially opened on 7 April 2004, and full operational use followed on 15 April 2004. The new Runway is 1500 meters (4,922 feet) long and is well suited to accommodate de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, Fokker 50 and ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft. The new airport is located about 6 kilometres North-West of the town of Limbang.
Currently, Malaysia Airlines' subsidiary MASWings operates into and out of the airport. Other operators include Medevac and Logging helicopters, and private turboprop powered aircraft. Previous users of the airport were Malaysia Airlines and former Air Asia subsidiary FAX (Fly Asian Express).

LIMBANG WATER FRONT

Well, the first place that I going to bring you around is the Limbang Water Front. Before the waterfront been renovated, it is just a place for hawker stalls. After that the Limbang district officer had decided to make this a clean and beautiful place for people to hang out. So they have setup another place for the hawkers to hawks.

BUKIT MAS

Located in the town of Limbang in Northern Sarawak, Bukit Mas (gold hill) is a 210m high jungle-clad limestone outcrop which dominates the town. The summit offers excellent views of nearby Brunei and is accessible via a steep road leading off Jln Pandaruan, or by foot via a long staircase leading from the Lake Garden at the eastern end of the town. There is a small Buddhist shrine halfway up the summit road.

SMALL TOWN OF LIMBANG

Limbang is a passer-by town. People pass by Limbang whether to go to Kota Kinabalu or to Miri but in between we have to pass by Brunei Darussalam. So, Limbang is the best place to take a little break before continue the trip to Kota Kinabalu or Miri. Consist of various store, food stall, restaurant, shopping mall and other things that usually a small town should have :)

TAMU

Another place... 'tamu' where people selling their vegetable, rice etc etc and clams. This clam is from the river. I dont know how they get it but according to my mum the clams can be found at the mangrove river area. How to find? I dont know, what I know its delicious. You can ask the lady to open the shell.

BUAK BUAK

This is how the local folk call it. This is the only mud spring in Limbang (or in Sarawak, perhaps). It has been a place for the neighbourhood people to come and shower for fun, but it is less known by the town people in Limbang. There you will see many discreeted mud springs (of various sizes, either dead or alive) all over the place. Being there just makes you feel like walking on the surface of The
Moon.

PESTA BABULANG

This is the annual festival held by the local native called the Bisaya People in Limbang. It is similar with the harvesting event celebrated by Iban People in other parts of the Borneo Island. The highlight of this festival, which outstands the other native celebrations, is the Buffalo Race! Hence, the best time to visit Limbang in order to witness this event is probably the first week of June every year.
